I just have to say wow, this book was quite a ride and I certainly didn't expect the end. There's nothing like having someone take a totally horrific situation and triumph in a totally unexpected way. The characters were not cookie cutters, even the folks that were rather viscous weren't evil, just a product of their environment. This was a very dark story but a wonderful tale of the endurance of the human spirit.
